Boone has placed on the State Trap Team each year from 2003-2008.
These accomplishments alone qualify Boone for the GATA Hall of Fame consideration, but to go along with these many achievements, Boone is also being inducted for his service to the sport of trapshooting.
Regarding enshrinement for “Service to the Sport of Trapshooting”, the GATA Hall of Fame by-laws read “Each candidate selected on the basis of service to the sport of trapshooting must have demonstrated an overall exemplary and unselfish commitment and service to the sport of trapshooting within and without the state of Georgia over a period of years.” If Boone doesn’t reflect this statement, nobody does. He has given of himself unselfishly, serving as South River Gun Club representative for 10 years, GATA President since 2003, setting targets at local shoots, and performing shoot management duties at our Georgia State Shoot as well as other adjoining state shoots. Boone is one of the primary reasons our state shoot usually runs so smoothly. He works tirelessly making sure that when Murphy rears his head, everything that can go wrong has a remedial back-up ready for immediate service. And if you think working at these events doesn’t take away from your game, I challenge you to work side-by-side with Boone for just one major shoot.
It is with great pleasure I give you our 2009 GATA Hall of Fame Inductee: Boone Butler
