Norman Franklin is the twenty-first Enshrinee into the Georgia Trapshooting Hall of Fame.
Norm began competitive shooting with pistols, progressing and achieving the Master Class.
He then turned to Skeet, where he again achieved the highest class, “AA.”
Norman then changed his efforts to Trap, where in his second year competing at the Georgia State Shoot, tied for the Handicap Championship with 96 x 100, losing in shoot-off with a score of 49 x 50.
The following year he tied for the Singles Championship, again losing in shoot-off. The next day, however, changing his ways he tied and won the Georgia State Handicap Championship with a score of 97 x 100, beating one of his closest friends in a shoot-off for the win.
After putting his shooting career aside temporarily to raise his family, Norman returned to Trapshooting as a Veteran. Since his return, Norman has earned thirty championships, both open and resident, in five states, four Grand American Satellite Category Championships, and three ties for Grand American Category Championships.
Norman earned Georgia State Team recognition twice, was in the top ten Senior Veterans in the Grand American 400 target High-All-Around, and the 1000 target High Overall, and in the top 15 Senior Veterans in the total 2400 target Grand American Program.
Norman shot 100 straight at the age of 75.
At the time of his induction into the GATA Hall of Fame, Norman had shot a total of 207,850 registered ATA targets (82,550 Singles, 69,400 Handicap, 55,900 Doubles)
