Harold's first registered trap targets were in 1992 after shooting skeet and trap in 1990 at Kettlefoot Rod & Gun Club in Bristol Virginia. He soon drifted to the trap side.
His first 100 straight in singles was on 3-27-93 at Izaak Walton Gun Club in Christianburg, Virginia.
During his trap career, Harold won trophies in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, and Kentucky.
One of his goals was to achieve the 27 yard line, and managed to reach the 26.
Harold was a Life Member of both the NRA and ATA.
Harold's significant trophies include:
2001 Georgia State Shoot Singles Championship Class A Champion with 198/200;
2001 Georgia State Shoot, Doubles Championship Class A Champion with 94/100;
2003 Georgia State Shoot, Doubles Championship, Runner-up with 95/100;
2005 Georgia State Shoot, Singles Championship, Class A Champion with 198/200;
2006 Forest City Gun Club, Doubles Champion with 96/100 (in his first shoot after open heart surgery);
2008 Southwestern Grand, Singles Championship Class A runner-up with 197/200 (with a Perazzi purchased one day earlier);
and his "Best shoot ever", the 2015 Georgia State Shoot, Senior Veteran Champion in Singles, Doubles, High All Around, & High Over All.
In his last Grand American Handicap Championship, he carded 94/100, not knowing that cancer had invaded his hip.
Harold was named to the Georgia State Team in 2012 & 2013 as a Veteran, and in 2015 as a Senior Veteran.
One of Harold's proudest trapshooting accomplishments was earning ATA All American Team status for the 2016 Senior Veteran 2nd team.
In May, 2015, Harold visited Louisiana, to shoot with his son, at the Louisiana State Trap Shoot, winning the Preliminary Singles Senior Veteran award and the Open Class A award in the Doubles Championship.
Harold has won numerous trophies at various locations through the southeast, from Louisiana to Virginia.
Harold was instrumental in revising the HoF Points System and other qualifications for GATA Hall of Fame induction during his five year term as a HoF Committee Member.
Harold's Lifetime Registered Target Attainment (over 24 years) includes 53,600 Singles, 50,200 Handicap, and 47,500 Doubles, for a total of 151,300 registered targets.
