Our initial Enshrinee was twice President of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and was a stalwart of southern trapshooting for many decades.
At the time of his death in 1971, the Enshrinee had registered 139,075 16- yard targets, which remains the record for a Georgia Trapshooter.
He won the Georgia State Singles Championship in 1945, 1946 and 1957, the Handicap Championship in 1926 and 1947, the Doubles Championship in 1934 and 1935, and the All Around in 1937. He also won Southern Zone Titles through the years, including the Preliminary Handicap and All Around Titles in 1935. At various times in his long shooting career, he led his state’s averages in each type of firing.
He was President of the ATA in 1951 and 1956, serving on its Executive Committee for 10 years. He also served Georgia as its delegate for many years after that. Dr. Alford was a founder of the Southern Indians and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Yaarab Temple, The Elks, and the Atlanta Athletic Club. During World War I, he was a member of the Army Medical Corps.
On behalf of the Trustees of the Georgia Trapshooting Hall of Fame, I am pleased to present to you, Dr. H. N. Alford.
