Ginger is being inducted today for her service to the sport of trapshooting, but her shooting merits can be admired as well. Ginger began shooing registered targets in 2002.
Her father taught her how to shoot a BB gun in their Dunwoody, GA backyard at around the age of 8. When he told her to close her left eye to zero in on the target, then pull the trigger, she minded him - but he never told her to open her left eye so she became a one-eyed shooter from an early age. Ginger and her father even shot trap together at Wolf Creek Shooting Complex in Atlanta several times before his death in 1993.
Her first trophy came in 2002 at the South Carolina Hall of Fame shoot as Open Singles Lady Champ. In 2004, the Georgia Delegate at the time, John Hiter, presented her with the Georgia State Most Improved Singles Champ trophy. When her husband and fellow trapshooter became Vice President of the GATA in 2004-2012, she assisted him with most of the duties that came along with that title. She also assisted him in many of the duties when he became President of the GATA from 2013-2017.
Some additional achievements under her belt include:
2005 Georgia State Peach State Handicap Lady Champ
2005 Georgia State Handicap Lady Champ
2009 Georgia State Handicap Champ 3rd
2010 Georgia State Lady Handicap Champ
2013 Georgia State John Hiter Lady Champ

Ginger and her husband have won numerous Husband & Wife Singles Champ trophies in Georgia. She also had wins in Alabama in 2005 Double Lady Champ, 2005 Alabama Handicap Lady Champ and 2007 Alabama State Singles Class D in addition to 2010 North Carolina N/R Singles Class C Champ.
As few years back when her friend and fellow inductee today, Betsy Reed, was Secretary of the GATA wanted to retire as Secretary, Ginger convinced her to stay on a while longer and she would take on the task of creating the GATA program of Events. Ginger has continued to this day to handle the program and all that goes with that responsibility.
In 2023, Ginger was elected as Vice President of the GATA and again in 2024 and has agreed to stay on as VP for another term. When she's not shooting, Ginger loves to help score, cashier and anything she can do to help the shoot run smoothly and efficiently.
Ginger still enjoys using her background in Graphic Design for many things; loves gardening, her miniature schnauzers, her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Trapshooting Hall of Fame, I present to you Ginger Golden.
