On Saturday, September 9, 2006, Bob DuVall becomes the eighteen Georgian to be inducted into the Georgia Trapshooting Hall of Fame.
In 1966, at the age of 12 and after watching his Marine Corps marksman, WW II Veteran father win the Maryland State Handicap Trapshooting Championship that year, Bob joined the ATA and began registering targets. Accumulating 250 Singles targets and sporting a 74.80 average, 1,775 Handicap targets with an 83.49 average and 250 Doubles resulting in an 86.00 average, Bob was off to an early start to his trapshooting career. His first trap gun was a Remington 1100, which he used for all events. By 1970, Bob at 15 years of age had won his Carroll County (Maryland) Gun Club's High-Over-All (HOA) Championship. Being a Subjunior, Bob started on the 18 yard line and earned his way to the 27. In the ensuing 40 years to date, he has registered a total of 77,175 Singles, 81,175 Handicap and 61,350 Doubles targets. In 1993, Bob became a Life Member of the ATA.
In 1988, Bob was awarded Georgia's "Most Improved Shooter" while elevating his composite average from 84.06 to 89.55. In 1989, while shooting in "Class D" Doubles, Bob won the Kentucky State Doubles Open Championship with a solo 99. Bob proceeded to win the Georgia Class AA Singles in 1995 and the Class AA Doubles in both 1994 and 1995. Bob won the Georgia Peach State Handicap Championship in 1990 and the following year he won the Georgia Handicap State Championship, the first of his six Georgia State Championships. . In 1997 Bob won three of the four major championship events, winning the Georgia Singles, Doubles and HOA Championships while winning Runnerup in the Handicap Championship. Having won two Georgia State Handicap Championships (1991 and 1996), Bob has earned greater than 10 yards in a single target year. Additionally, Bob has won trophies in, ATA Zone, Satellite Grand, and Grand American tournaments. In 1992, Bob won the ATA Grand American Class A Doubles Championship with the perfect score of 100 straight. Since that time, Bob has broken 100 straight doubles greater than 10 times. Bob won the ATA Dixie Grand's Peach State Handicap Championship in 1994. In 1995, Bob became the only Georgian to ever break 100 straight from the 27 yard line, doing it twice in that year. In 1996, sporting a Georgia record 97.18 Doubles average on 4500 targets, and a Georgia record 92.44 average on 6100 Handicap targets, Bob accumulated the highest composite average in Georgia history, 95.43. In 1994, Bob registered a Georgia record 28,500 targets. Bob was on the Georgia Trapshooting Team from 1992 through 1997, acting as Captain for the 1996 and 1997 teams.
Administratively, Bob has served in the capacities of first Alternate Delegate and Vice President for the Georgia Trapshooting Association. Bob was instrumental in the founding of both the ATA Dixie Grand Trapshooting Tournament and the Georgia Trapshooting Hall of Fame. Vocationally, Bob holds a doctorate degree and works as a physical therapist and athletic trainer for the USA Olympic Shooting Team, officially covering the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympic Games.
