Our ninth enshrinee adapted quickly to the sport of trapshooting when he joined the ATA as a Life member in 1973. Dennis was 31 when he began his trapshooting career and his talents were recognized nationally when he was named the Trap & Field Rookie of the Year Runner-up. Dennis established himself as a strong handicap shooter by earning his way to the 27-yard line in just 13 months after he began shooting. At that time he was only the 2nd person in the State of Georgia to have achieved "back-fence" status. He continued to master the sport by attaining the highly coveted AA-27-AA ranking that he still holds today.
Dennis has excelled in trapshooting for three decades. He has been crowned the Georgia State Singles Champion 6 times from 1975 to 1993 and won the State Doubles Championship titles in 1975 and 1995. Additionally, he has won numerous State Class awards and several out-of-state titles in South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. Dennis has been named to the State Trap Team 8 times.
While Dennis is being inducted into the Hall of Fame based on his fine shooting merit, his service to the sport cannot go without mention. Dennis has been involved on the GATA Board of Directors in many capacities throughout the years including Vice President, Alternate ATA Delegate and served as President from 1992-1997.
Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Trapshooting Hall of Fame, I present to you Dennis Morgan.
